Analytic Hierarchy Process

The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) enables decision makers to structure decisions hierarchically with the overall goal of the decision at the top of the model, strategic objectives in the higher levels, evaluation criteria in the middle levels, and alternative choices at the bottom.

The AHP provides a structured framework for setting priorities on each level of the hierarchy using pair-wise comparisons, a process of evaluating each pair of decision factors at a given level on the model for their relative importance with respect to their parent.

The consistency of the judgments is tracked using the rigorous math analytics behind the AHP to validate the decision process. In cases where inconsistency is above 10% it is recommended that the criteria and judgments be revisited.

Decision makers are then able to create a model of their priorities where the weight of the decision is distributed from the goal downwards.

If a user increases the weight of a criterion, the alternatives that performed well on that criterion will always get higher scores. This sensitivity analysis is portrayed graphically in the Decision Lens software products and is extremely valuable for testing the impact of changing priorities on alternative business decision choices.

In Decision Lens, the AHP is integrated with a linear programming optimizer to enable decision makers to define business rules for budget allocation. They can then allocate resources across investment alternatives to maximize business value. Using this optimization capability, organizations can effectively manage investments in projects and people using a true portfolio-based framework rather than a project-based framework.

An Education in Saving on Textbooks

Every year students flock to the college bookstore to purchase the various textbooks that they require for their classes. Little do these students realize that, in doing so, they are throwing good money away. As unbelievable as it may seem textbooks, in some cases, actually cost as much, if not more, than tuition.

On the surface the college bookstore may seem like a convenient source for textbooks. Titles are usually in-stock and students may purchase new textbooks or opt for the cheaper alternative of used books. In truth the money saved by purchasing used textbooks from the college bookstore is only a fraction of the amount that students could be saving if they shopped online.

More and more online booksellers have begun selling textbooks at a considerable discount off of the cover price. In fact, many major booksellers now have special areas of their web sites that are devoted to selling nothing but textbooks. Online used bookstores are another source for college books as they stock a large number of textbooks, which means sizable savings for students. There are also web-based retailers whose inventory is entirely devoted to college books.

Students should avoid purchasing their textbooks at the first store that they browse. Instead, they should investigate the alternatives offered by other online booksellers. Price isn't the only factor to consider when making an online purchase. Students should also factor in shipping costs and delivery time when making their buying decision.

Online auctions are another option for students seeking a bargain. This option, however, has its pros and cons. A plus is that students can get incredible bargains when obtaining books via online auctions. One downside is that established retailers have channels in place to ensure that you receive your order within a reasonable amount of time. With an auction purchase, however, you are at the mercy of the auction seller's timetable.

One way that students can really save is by obtaining books for free. Project Gutenberg is one resource that English majors will find invaluable. At this site students can peruse a vast collection of classics that have entered the public domain. In the past students seeking assistance with their studies had to pay for the privilege of that help by purchasing study guides. Today that is no longer the case. Cash-strapped students can now visit Spark Notes for free downloadable study guides as well as free downloadable classics.

Students who elect to buy online will no longer be able to resell their books to the college bookstore at the end of class, but that doesn't mean that they are stuck with the textbooks. Many web sites that sell textbooks also offer students the option of selling their books to fellow bargain-seekers. This allows students to easily recouping a portion of their money.

Textbooks normally consume a major portion of a student's budget, but that doesn't have to be the case, because while the cost of tuition may be set in stone the price of textbooks isn't. By taking the time to do a little research on the best textbook values available college students can save money now rather than acquiring debt to be paid back later.

Four Common Myths About Backup Software

Four Common Myths About Backup Software
by Alexey Spiridonov

Computers affect the way we live, communicate, work, and entertain today more than ever before. So, the information stored on them becomes very significant. Loosing data from your hard drive is at least unpleasant, but in some cases also very expensive. At the same time, not all of us take measures to protect their data. Moreover, day after day we hear about alarming accidents of data loss. But why reliable backup strategies are not as much widespread as data crash accidents? – Perhaps, because people have some wrong notions about backup software and about the problem of data loss in general.

Precious personal and work data is stored in a computer's hard disk, but no hard disk is perfect. Sometimes they die, and so does the information stored. Furthermore, viruses, human errors and even natural disasters or theft can take away your data without any chance of restoring. One reliable solution for the problem of data loss is backup software that makes reserve copies of your critical data automatically. There is a great variety of such data-safe program to choose from. But why do people still ignore this software?

In this article we'll try to denote some possible reasons of ignoring backup software and to destroy some myths about backup preventing people from using it. We have summarized these notions in four common «myths» and will try to expose them.

• Myth 1: The risk of data loss is insignificant

Some people believe that data loss is not their problem. Why don't they care? Because they just know nothing about possible crucial hardware faults and destructive effect of such faults on the stored information.

Actually, there are high risks of data loss. According to the survey conducted by Verio (Global Premier Provider of Online Services), fifty-three percent of respondents have already experienced an actual loss of information that was stored on a PC. Six percent of PCs will suffer an episode of data loss in any given year. 31% of PC users have ever lost all of their files due to events beyond their control.

The reasons of losing data may vary greatly – power faults, short life of the hardware, viruses or hacker attacks… The fact is: you can irretrievably lose the information stored on your home or work computer (i.e. project data, email correspondence, personal information, irreparable and urgent documents) if the hard disk crashes.

Learn by others' mistakes: thoughtless attitude toward data backup has fatal consequences. Most people and organizations come to understand this only after losing their crucial data accidentally. With special backup software your data is more likely to be always on hand.

• Myth 2: Copying files manually is more effective

Some people are aware of the risk of data loss and try to deal with this problem without special backup software. These people protect the data on their own.

Common practice for such people is copying data to digital media occasionally. In other words, they copy their data without any backup software. Of course, it is better than nothing. But is it enough for guaranteed data protection? You can simply forget to make a backup before a hard disk fault, and your previous backup work will become sheer waste of time. Moreover, you can forget to copy some files which you may need most of all after data loss.

With special backup software you can use automated procedures for regular backup and synchronization under your own schedule. Backup software will do all the routine work on copying files for you, you only need to set what, when and where you wish to backup.

In other words, manual copying of files is not as reliable and comfortable as using special data backup software.

• Myth 3: Backup software sufficiently slows down computer performance

Some people think that backup jobs require too much hardware resources (space on a disk and CPU time) and it is tiresome to run them often. They suspect that backup software will impede using computer for work, entertainment or other purposes.

In fact, most backup programs are not resource-consuming. A typical backup program requires only operation system installed and about 5 Mb free disk space for program files. So, if your computer meets these requirements you have nothing to worry about. In other words, if you computer can have an operation system running, it will easily run a backup program.

Moreover, with a scheduler you can set your backup operations execution on the most convenient time. For example, during lunch time or when you sleep. Moreover, some backup programs can run in service mode. In service mode, the backup is independent from the currently logged in user. The benefit is that your backup tasks are processed even if somebody else is using the system at the moment or if nobody is logged in at all.

As you see, with a good backup program you can perform reserve copying operations in any time you wish. It means that you can have backups running when you are idle, and they will not interfere with your work.

• Myth 4: Using backup software is difficult, time-consuming and expensive

Imaginary difficulties of data backup procedures make users think about backup as a waste of time and money and as the result refuse it, hoping for the best. We are busy at work, family and friends fill our days and leave us little time for boring things like computer maintenance. But backing up data is much easier than it seems.

Please forget fairy tales about baffling complexity of backup programs! Most of backup programs have Wizards with intuitive user interface which let you configure your backup task with ease. A typical backup program can be installed within several minutes. Setting a backup task takes several minutes more. That's all. Then the backup program will take care of your crucial data.

After all, the price of such a program (30-70$ for single license) is far less then the costs of data loss.

We have tried to expose some myths about backup and to mark some positive abilities that backup software gives us. Today's backup software offers comfortable way to make reserve copies of your crucial data. As more people get familiar with automated backup solutions, they tend to become must-have software, along with e-mail clients, word processors and anti-virus programs.

5 Steps To Easily Keep Your PC Running Smooth And Fast

5 Steps To Easily Keep Your PC Running Smooth And Fast
Source: Trever Soutter

Most people who use computers today use them for work, games, research or socialization. With more and more people trying to begin home businesses, the computer has become the essential tool for their business startup and operation. People want to optimize their computers so that they will be as efficient as possible; however, there are many factors associated with the performance output of a personal computer.

In order for a computer to reach and maintain maximum performance, many factors must be considered. On the hardware side of the equation, one must consider their processor speed and system memory. With regards to the software side of your computer, you must be aware of your computer's privacy protection, system security, and anti-virus software. Additionally, you should do your best to take care of your Windows operating system - such as Windows XP or Windows Vista – including its registry and the files cleanup process.

To keep a PC running smoothly and error-free, there are some basic steps that anyone can follow. Fortunately, none of these steps are really at all difficult. Anyone can do these tasks, with a little bit of basic education. Keep this article around for future reference, just in case you need it again.

Shut-Down Processes

First off, it is important to understand that programs need to be given the proper signals to shut down. It is strongly recommended that you never simply unplug your machine to turn it off. Please go through the normal shut down procedures, no matter how long those processes might take.

If you lose power, it really is an unavoidable event. Microsoft has done a good job at helping Windows know when it was shut down improperly, so the next time you start up your computer, your operating system might repair itself. Typically, when you restart your computer after an improper shut down, it might take a few minutes longer to boot up than usual. Let Windows do its long boot up after it has unexpectedly shut down. The longer boot up process is Windows attempt to repair any corruptions caused by the unexpected shut down of your computer's operating system.

If you need to shut down your system more quickly than usual, we strongly recommend that you utilize the Control-Alt-Delete key combination, and then select Shut Down from your Windows Task Manager window. By utilizing this shut down method, Windows will make appropriate notes to itself that it will need to do some cleanup on its next boot up sequence.

If Windows is not allowed to clean up after itself, you run the risk of corrupting the operating system or different programs you have loaded on your computer. Corruption of programs may force you to reinstall those programs. Corruption of your data files is the worst-case scenario – you could lose hours or years of work in a single moment, as a result of your impatience. Don't be impatient; let your computer do what it needs to do to repair and protect your system files.

Unnecessary Applications Running In The Background

The "background" is not the image on your desktop. "Running in the Background" is a reference to programs that are running on your system in invisible mode. In some cases, they are completely invisible, and in other cases, the only indication that they are operating is their icon in your System Tray, next to your clock.

Certain programs think that they need to be operating in your System Tray at all times. QuickTime, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger are three of these types of programs. Microsoft Office even thinks it should be loaded and running in your background. If you use these applications frequently and need access to them almost instantaneously on a frequent basis, then yes, you probably should let them run in the background. But, most of us only use those applications on an infrequent basis.

The theory of having those applications running in the background is that it prevents you needing to wait thirty seconds while the software loads, when you need access to those applications. But, there is a significant amount of trade-off for thirty seconds of reduced wait time. That trade-off is a less-responsive computer. In worst-case scenarios, the thirty seconds saved at program start-up could trim minutes of productivity from your full workday.

While your system is operating, you can right-click on any icon next to your clock and most programs will allow you the option to select Close Application. By closing unnecessary applications, you can literally speed up the Windows operating system.

With most versions of Windows, you can also go to Start – Run and then type in "msconfig" and click OK. Once the Windows System Configuration Utility opens, click the tab that reads Startup. You can review the list and deselect items that you will not want to open when your computer boots up. It is important to note here that you should only close applications that you recognize and know that you can live without. Don't turn off an item in the Startup window, unless and until you know what that file really does. A quick search for that file name on the Internet will generally turn up lots of pages explaining what those files do in your Windows operating system environment.

Mean Kids On The Internet

Mean kids, who are also computer nerds, frequently grow up to be computer programmers who create Viruses and Spyware applications.

The mean teenagers of the programming world get their kicks from turning our lives upside-down, with viruses that create a multitude of problems on whatever machines they can get their software installed. Virus writers with a criminal history frequently grow up to be people who write Trojans and Spyware applications that seek to steal our private information

A Trojan is a malicious program that pretends to be a screensaver or some other non-threatening and fun kind of thing. When you execute it on your computer, it installs malicious software and then it does its dastardly deeds.

Trojans and Spyware typically try to harvest private information from your computer for the financial benefit of its creator. Most of these kinds of computer programs only want to shove their advertising in your face (Adware) or track your Internet usage habits, so they can sell that information to other businesses; but the really ugly versions try to steal your credit card data and other financial data from your computer.

For some people, Trojans and Spyware computer programs are responsible for as much as a 60% deterioration of a computer's performance capability.

Forgotten Programs On Your Computer

Do you remember some of those 30-day free trial software applications that you tried once or twice, but never used again? Some of these applications may be running in the background of your computer. All of these programs are also still taking up space on your hard drive.

Never go into your Windows Explorer and simply delete folders that contain the software programs you will never use again.

Instead, every two or three months, you should utilize your Add / Remove Programs procedure, which can be accessed by going to Start – Settings – Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs, and remove old computer programs that you no longer use. This can frequently free up a lot of extra space on your hard drive. It can also free up some extra memory in your computer, if the program had been running in the background of your operating system at startup.

Final Closing Thoughts

If you still encounter problems after following the above suggestions, you may wish to try out "Advanced Windows Care v2 Personal". It has been designed to help you perform all of these essential protection and maintenance processes for your computer, enabling you to get on with more important tasks like making more money. This software can remove Adware and Spyware programs from your computer system, protect your privacy, prevent security threats, fix registry errors, and much more.

This program is an all-in-one systems utility that only requires a single click each day for proper computer maintenance, optimization and protection. It is free, so try it out. Remember, if you don't like the software, we have already taught you how to remove it, if you ever wanted to do so. If you want to keep the software, that is fine too.

How To Build Traffic To Your Blog

With the growing interest in blogging as a means of online promotion and branding, a lot of marketers are starting blogs to promote their opinions, products, books and services.

But a blog is like a website. "Write and they will come" isn't exactly a magic formula to bring in traffic by the boatload.

If you need to promote your website in order to build traffic to it, you need to promote your blog as well.

Here are some ways you can become a well-read and influential blogger.

1. Write Posts That People Will Want To Read

This should be common sense, but many marketers tend to forget that their readers are real people and that you need to use the principles of online copywriting to make your headlines and copy interesting to your readers.

If you write posts that people enjoy reading, they will reward you by returning to your blog regularly.

Make your posts conversational, pithy and topical. Keep them short and stick to one topic per post.

Write often and regularly so that both readers and search engines visit your blog more often.

2. Optimize Your Posts for Search Engines

I cover this topic in detail in my article on "Search Engine Optimization For Blogs" http://www.blog-maniac.com/blog-seo.htm

But here are the most important rules to follow to get your posts listed for keywords of your choice.

* Make sure your blog URL contains the primary keyword you want to optimize for

* Use your primary keywords in the title of your post

* Use your secondary keywords in the body of your post

* Use your keywords in the anchor text of links in the body of your posts

3. Submit Your Blog and RSS Feed To Directories

If you publish a blog you should submit your blog and RSS feed to big directories like Yahoo and Dmoz, as well as the numerous blog directories and search engines.

Here is the best list I've found of places to submit your feed or blog, compiled by Luigi Canali De Rossi, who writes under the pseudonym Robin Good.

Best Blog Directory And RSS Submission Sites http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/

Another list of sites to submit your Blog. http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-submission.htm

4. Ping The Blog Services

There are a number of services designed specifically for tracking and connecting blogs. By sending a small ping to each service you let them know you've updated your blog so they can come check you out.

Bookmark the Ping-O-Matic ping results page so you can visit it and quickly ping a number of services with a single click.

http://pingomatic.com

5. Build Links To Your Blog

I recommend the methods here as the best ways to get links pointing to your blog

* Link to your blog from each page on your main website

* Trackback to other blogs in your posts

* Post legitimate comments on other blogs with related topics

* Offer to exchange links with other similarly themed blogs and websites

6. Edit Your Blog Posts Into Articles

One of the best methods for promoting your website is to write articles and submit them to article directories.

The suggestion for extending this to edit your blog posts into articles and submit them to directories came from the coach at "Explode Blog Traffic" who also has other noteworthy suggestions at his blog here. http://bloghit.blogspot.com/2004/11/how-to-explode-blog-traffic.html

You'll find an extensive list of article directories here http://ebizwhiz-publishing.com/write-articles/submit-articles.htm

7. Create Buzz About Your Blog

Creating a buzz about your blog posts and topic in the local and online media will give your marketing a viral component.

* Create a controversy around your blog or it's topic.

* Distribute bumper stickers or other merchandise with your blog's URL and tagline.

* Write a press release about something newsworthy and tie it in with your blog topic.

8. Capture Subscribers By Email

It may seem strange for a blogger to send out updates by email, but email is still the #1 choice of most people who want to receive news and information.

Using a free service like Bloglet to manage your subscriptions is easy and it allows your subscribers to manage all their subscriptions from one interface. http://www.bloglet.com

However, if you want more control over your list and don't mind mailing out the updates yourself, you can use an autoresponder system to capture and follow-up with subscribers.

RSS responder is a new script that allows you to keep in touch and follow-up with your subscribers without the hassle of email. http://ebizwhiz-publishing.com/rssresponder.htm

These tips should give you a good start to building your blog traffic.

Product Creation Tip - Let Those Around You Inspire

Moving on now to product creation tip number three. Stop for a moment. Look around. We've done this before in tip number one, mix with your market. You should have already had a go at this, and if you haven't, I urge you to go back to tip number one and do so, because the exercise there is the basis of idea generation.

This time, instead of looking around you, I want you to listen. Listen to your friends, the people you hang around with. Eavesdrop on your family. How about the person behind you in the queue at the supermarket, what are they talking about?

Do you see how I'm building on all the senses here? I wasn't lying when I said to you product creation is about generating ideas through being aware of yourself and your surroundins in a more heightened fashion than those who don't know how to do this.

The fact of the matter is there's so much going on in our lives that unless you force yourself into this for the first few weeks, it won't happen to you because you'll fall back into that daily grind-like trance. Once you've done this for a long while, it will start to become habit, an automatic thing that will sound alarm bells in your head when you hear someone mention an idea, even when you've never actually met the person, and probably never will.

How many times have you heard a friend or family member, or even a random passer by say 'I wish product X did action Y?' I hear that almost every single day, from myself and those around me. It's amazing how good we are complaining about things, but rarely ever think about trying to put them right, let alone thinking along the lines of making a profit at the same time.

Let me give you an example of exactly how I created some of my products, or rather, how other people created these products for me. Picture the situation. It's a hot summers day, I've just decided I want to create a fire sale, but this time, it has to be a fire sale with a difference. So I shovel myself out of bed, jump in the shower, and do all the other morning stuff that people tend to do in the morning.

I turn my computer on and write my goal down. I create a new folder called 'Fire sale 3' and then create a text document inside. This is going to be my fire sale planner where I'm going to want to come up with ten or so products that I can package up and make a killing with later this summer.

At that point, the computer goes off. I don't go around looking for products or inspiration, I don't think hard about what I'm going to do. I don't need to really, because when using the methods in these sections, they come to me.

Anyway, I'm feeling a little thirsty and decide to have a healthy breakfast this morning, so I head out to the store near me to pick up a bottle of Dr Pepper and a chocolate bar. I walk in, grab my gear, and walk to the queue. Now over here right now, football is all the rage, so it didn't really surprise me to find two young kids in front of me talking away about where they learned their football skills from and arguing about which one is better.

It was at that point, one of them began talking about this book he read of a footballers training regime. Kids? Reading books? I couldn't help but keep listening at that point. 'Yeah,' he continued. 'I bought this book that he wrote, and I don't care what you say, you can learn to be skillful from reading a book. I never understood half the stuff people were on about when they talked about their training, but this guy made it into a diary and encouraged readers to follow it, and I did, that's why I'm so much better than you now, 'cause I understand it all properly. I understand why now'.

At that point they paid and walked off. The checkout assistant had to call me over because I was still pondering over what they said. Now bear in mind it's obvious what's coming when I put it to you in the context of product creation, but at that point in time it was just one of hundreds if not thousands of random occurrences that happen to us all every single day, so it took me a moment to make the connection.

I got home and began a diary, not just of random marketing stuff, but of a 14 day challenge to create something big, noting down every detail, from what woke me up in the morning, how long I was working, what I was working on, how I was coming up with my ideas, how they were being developed, written, launched and sold. At the end of the week I had a 200 page document that I knew immediately was going to be a big hit. It was so different to anything I'd done before, and on reading it I had 'that good feeling' that you get, when you know something is just oozing quality. Turns out my friends, family, colleagues and customers thought exactly the same.

So I take this moment to thank the two 8 or 9 year olds that were arguing in the queue in a Budgens store in front of me in mid 2006, because I just took nearly $150,000 in sales because of my star product, the idea of which, you handed me on a plate.

You see, it's not all about watching or reading. You need to listen, and you need to draw inspiration from not just other marketers, not just your close friends, but everything around you. Your surroundings, what you hear, what you see, who you meet, who you hear talking, what you're touching, what you enjoy, what you dislike.
You don't even need to actively set out to look for ideas, the moment you can reach that sense of awareness and snap out of that trance you're in, bang, they'll start hitting you from all angles, and you won't be able to type fast enough to note them all down.

Ok this is where my inner kid comes out, because it's still thriving. This is a lot of fun and makes a lot of money, so what I'm going to ask you to do now is this. Go shopping. In a supermarket, you're surrounded by the cream of the crop, the best marketing, the best presentation, products, ideas and of course the shoppers who are absolutely packed full of opinions.

So there we have it. Turn your computer off, and go buy a few things from the nearest supermarket, even if it's just a coke or something. While you're there, take your time walking around and listen and watch everything. When you hear someone complain, or mention anything that they like or dislike, or come up with any idea that they may laugh off and say 'Yeah if only that existed' think about it hard. How does it relate to your marketing and the presentation of your products?

You will never run out of ideas again once you master this, not to mention it's pretty fun trying to look inconspicuous reading labels when actually you're trying to listen in on other peoples' conversations for that career enhancing, product creating tip that's going to take your profit beyond what you ever thought possible.

Fact of the matter is, I'm not trying to be funny, I'm not trying to be different, come up with something new or eccentric. It works. Try it if you don't believe me.

I wonder if they'd be mad if they knew people were making millions of dollars from their ideas.

Macro for Ms Excel to Change Word Case

To change case in Ms Excel can be done using upper(), lower() and proper() functions of excel.

But sometime some data getting mix up between upper case and lower case, however if we assign those function to each data that we want to change will time consuming.

Here , I use simple macro to solve to problems. The idea is to insert a new column next to the cell we want to change, then we change the words and copy back to the original column and delete the extra column. I use keyboard shortcut such as CTRL+Shift+U to change to upper case and CTRL+Shift+L to Lower case and CTRL+Shift+P to proper case.

Here the macro listing

How To Get Results With Free Traffic Exchanges

The number one problem that new Internet marketers and business owners face is getting traffic (visitors) to their websites. Owning and running a business means that you have to let your potential customers know you are there! Traditional options are familiar to all of us – radio, TV, circulars, coupons, yellow page ads—but what are the new tools to focus customers on your website?

For many new marketers Traffic exchanges can offer a great way to start getting visitors quickly, and could also provide a fast way to test different marketing campaigns.

So, what is a Traffic Exchange?
A traffic exchange is any system that allows users to exchange advertisements with each other. In its broadest sense, a traffic exchange could include anything from a banner exchange, to a system where members exchange full page views with each other.

The focus of this post is manual traffic exchanges (TEs), or surf exchanges. These services are like advertising clubs where members view each other's sites to earn points (advertising credits) to have their site shown to other members of the club.

For the most part, the members of an exchange share a similar interest. Of course they are interested in free or low cost traffic, but they must also be interested in the subject matter of the other sites being shown.

Many of the larger traffic exchange services have a membership that is predominantly interested in marketing (network marketing, multi-level marketing or general Internet marketing). These exchanges may also attract members that are interested in other subjects as well, like trading collectibles, blogging, etc.

How Does a Traffic Exchange Work?
After joining the club (exchange) a member begins viewing other members' websites (ads) in a framed site. The member waits a certain period of time and is then able to click on a link or button to load and view the next page. For each site that is viewed, the member receives points (or credits). Typically one half of a point is given for each site viewed. After accumulating some credits (points), the member then spends the credits to have his or her site shown in the exchange to other members. In this way page views are exchanged.

Most traffic exchanges are free to join, although some require a small payment, adding to their exclusivity. The owner of the exchange sells additional credits or upgraded memberships, to pay for running the service.

Most traffic exchanges have an affiliate system in place that allows a member to earn additional credits for referring new members to the club. Many times these referral systems are multi-level, meaning that you not only earn credits on the new members you recruit, but additional credits on the members that your referrals recruit. This makes these exchanges a form of multi-level advertising.

In addition to exchanging web page traffic, many exchanges offer additional services including banner advertising, text ads, email advertising, classified ads, directories, and more. However, most exchanges do not offer ALL of those features.

What are Traffic Exchanges and why should we use them? Can a Traffic Exchange really be a viable source of advertising?

Obviously my answer is going to be a emphatic YES but I want to share with you why I say yes and why you should be as excited about Traffic Exchange advertising as I am.

Reason Number One: The Cost

Advertising on a Traffic Exchange is probably the lowest priced advertising that you're going to find anywhere, besides tacking your flyer to a telephone pole. The majority of Traffic Exchanges are free to join and the monthly upgrade fees are minimal.

You can produce literally thousands of views to the website of your choice for pennies.

But does low cost equal low value? NO! Unlike the flyer on the telephone pole, Traffic Exchanges have one very important and unique advantage. This leads me to…

Reason Number Two: A Captive Audience

When you advertise in Traffic Exchanges you are making use of some of the the most valuable advertising there is. There are a couple of different characteristics that make this true.

First, your audience is captive. A manual exchange requires the surfing member to physically click on a link to advance to the next website. The member must be looking at the surf bar to do that.. the same surf bar that surrounds your website. In other words, in order for a member to surf and accumulate credits, he MUST see your site.

Secondly, Traffic Exchanges are increasingly using categories. When you submit your website you are asked into which category it fits best. Doing this assures that if another member selects the catagory of Autoresponders, and yours is listed there, that member is going to see it. That's as targeted as you're ever gonna get.

It's true, that all don't use the catagory feature yet, and it's also true that at this point many catagories aren't needed. Honestly traffic exchanges cater mostly to Internet Marketers at this point.

************************

Don't confuse being Internet Marketers with members who are only looking for the next get rich quick scheme or even a legitimate opportunity.

While that covers a portian of an exchanges membership.. it certainly isn't exclusive to that.

A large group of Internet Marketers are serious minded business people that have already found a legitimate business and don't want another one! What they do need are the tools and resources to run, market, organize, maintain and promote the business they have.

************************

The fact that so many users are Internet Marketers makes Traffic Exchanges the ultimate targeted audience for many of us righ now.

But that fact also leads us right into the best part.. the most exciting, I can't contain myself any longer, reason!

Reason Number Three: Traffic Exchanges are in their infancy.

The first Traffic Exchange began just 8 short years ago! Each of you as members of a Traffic Exchange are truly in at the beginning of a new era of advertising.

We are just beginning to see the big picture. We are just beginning to experience the immense power of this new advertising arena. You can believe it when I say that you haven't seen nothin' yet!

Have you noticed while surfing that you come across more and more sites that are NOT related to Internet Marketing. While still the minority, there are many sites targeting gifts, pets, music, sportswear, apparel and more. This is the future of TrafficExchanges! This is what should make you 'jumpin' outta your chair' excited!!

If you are an Internet Marketer.. Traffic Exchanges are just going to continue to grow and be a huge target audience for you. If, however, your passion lies in another area, making jewelry perhaps or having an online antique book store, Traffic Exchanges are on the verge of exploding your advertising horizons.

As all of us involved with Traffic Exchanges work together and begin stretching and growing out of our comfort zones, our presence WILL become known. We WILL impact the advertising world in a HUGE way.

No matter what it is that you want to advertise, you will have a world wide market! Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people will be drawn to and begin using Traffic Exchanges.. and for 2 very simple reasons.

Reason Number 1: The Cost

Reason Number 2: A Captive Audience

eBay vs. Google: Goliaths Battle Over Checkout

eBay Pulls US Ads from Google Pages

By Ed Oswald, BetaNews

June 13, 2007, 3:34 PM

Tensions between eBay and Google rose on Wednesday after the auction site decided to pull some of its ads from the search engine's AdWords program.

The move only affects ads within the United States. eBay will continue to run ads through the program outside of the country. While the company is saying the move is part of a regular switch in strategies to determine the best use of advertising dollars, some are saying differently.

An unnamed source told IDG that the move was payback for Google's decision to hold a protest outside of its eBay Live conference. The search giant is protesting the ban on Google Checkout in its online auctions.

Making matters worse, the Mountain View, Calif. company has decided to market the party to the media, which is apparently making eBay upset. Meetings have been taking place at eBay to decide whether the sanctions should go further, the source claims.

The move is somewhat curious: not too long ago, Google was claiming its service was not intended to compete with PayPal directly. However, with adoption of its service increasing, the opposite now appears to be the case.

EBay Vs. Google In Battle For Radio Ads

By Adario Strange

Mgwhtm EBay is teaming up with Bid4Spots to sell offline radio ads on the Internet, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The new initiative is said to include 2,300 radio stations nationwide in a move seen as a direct challenge to Google’s dMarc-powered radio ads sales efforts. What’s interesting about all this radio ad activity is that it flies in the face of the widely held belief that traditional broadcast radio is dying. But based on these recent moves by the leaders in digital commerce, radio is still a very good business to be in.

SO WHAT Happen Ya….

Go to/Specials/Current Region.
